One of the best big wave riders in Australia. But his talents aren't just limited to charging Shipsterns or Tahitian bombs, he is also not afraid of busting big airs.
He currently lives on the Gold Coast with his wife and 3 kids but was originally from the South Coast NSW. Dylan is a well known surfer who is constantly chasing waves all through the year going on trips whenever he can.
Longbottom lucky to be alive
On 27 October, 2006 : - - Dylan has conquered the deadliest waves on the planet but an accident in small surf at Snapper Rocks almost cost Gold Coast pro surfer Dylan Longbottom his life. The world-renowned big-wave charger the Day before labelled The Superbank the most dangerous wave he had ever surfed after severely breaking his jaw and fracturing his cheekbone while surfing that Tuesday.
Longbottom was struck in the face by a novice surfer's surfboard as he was riding a wave. If it had knocked him unconscious, he could have drowned. Dylan Stated, "I was going down the line ready to do a bottom turn and this guy went to go under the wave and it just threw his surfboard away and then it took me out," said Longbottom, who had then just arrived home from a surf trip to the treacherous Tahitian wave Teahupoo last week.
"It felt like I got hit by a sledgehammer. I have been lucky enough to surf the heaviest waves in the world and have nothing happen to me. That is what blows me away. Although it shows people how dangerous this wave actually is. You have got guys here buying surfboards who should be learning to surf down the beach but instead they are just paddling out into the line-up and they don't know what to do."

3.Where have you traveled too? Bali, Singapore, Barbados, Canada, St Martin, St Thomas, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and some more but I cant remember.I have no idea as far as the US; I guess pretty much all the eastern states and a lot of the western.
4.What are your biggest highlights of your career? Have a large section in the Gatorboards video “Transgressionâ€
5.Who are your wakeboarding/wakeskating influences? God, well first off I wouldn't be anywhere without him.I would say the runner up goes to the smartest man on earth, my dad. He is just the biggest influence in my life and I am so grateful for him. As far as riders I have always looked up to Byerley and Thomas, and Vandall. Also, I always look up to Steve Berra, Geof Rowley, and Chris Cole.
6.What do you look forward to in 2008? Toe Jam is really stepping it up this year so I'm really pumped and I'm stoked to just get out and watch and push the sport. I know a lot of sick tricks will go down. I already have a few secret tricks I am working on also. I am really pumped to be working with Malibu this year. They have always been my favorite boat company so it was them or nobody! Hahaha. That's how I was with Arnette too! I always loved their product and team so I'm really pumped about being with them!! I feel like it's a good fit. Also, I'm just getting my new Sea Doo with the Ballast tank so I'm stoked to work with those guys too!!

Describe your perfect day: In the morning: great waves with my mates, then come home and eat, sleep and do an evening surf. Early eve play a game of touch footie. Eat a good meal then sleep and do it all over again.
